We are proud to welcome A. M. Leibowitz to our crazy family of authors. A.M. hails from the east, and she writes gay romance. A.M. was introduced to writing through fanfiction, as are many great authors, and continues to write original fiction with a flourish. She’s a wonderful mother and wife, who spends as much time with her children as possible. A.M.’s debut novel, Lower Education, releases November 1 with our imprint, Acquitted Books.
Here’s some questions and answers from A.M.
What drew you into writing Gay Romance?
That is practically a novel in itself. I guess the short answer is that it was a way for me to work out my own feelings about my identity and my sexuality. It was—and still is—a way to explore that safely and without hurting people in my “real” life.
Any fears going into publishing?
My greatest fear going into publishing has always been having people not like my work. I can hear a thousand times that they do but still have a hard time believing it.
What are you most excited about in this newest venture, and what do you think has been your favorite part thus far?
I’m most excited about having someone not related to me read my work! And my favorite part so far has been meeting other writers. I’ve worked 9-5 jobs and been a stay-home mom, and I’ve had coworkers and fellow parents around me. But I have never been in a group of colleagues as supportive as other writers, particularly those who write lgbtq fiction. It’s been like finding family, and I’m continually amazed at how welcoming everyone has been.
