EXT. AN EMPTY STREET – NIGHT
ARIADNE WILLOW, early thirties, wearing a hoodie, walks toward the camera. A pair of squad cars are parked at the top of a steep incline that runs down to a crime scene in front of a waterfront house. KYLE LORNE, a bearded detective dressed for cold weather, meets her at the end of the driveway.
Welcome to Seattle’s first homicide of the year.
Neighbor heard the screams about forty-five minutes ago.
Quick cuts of a bloody body.
ON-SCREEN: “WOLF MANOTH HAS BEGUN…”
INT. A RICHLY-APPOINTED HOUSE WITH A VIEW OF THE WATER.
Allegedly this is hunting season.
They call January ‘wolf manoth’.
ON-SCREEN: “HUNTERS HAVE DESCENDED UPON SEATTLE IN FULL FORCE”
INT. PARKED CAR
An older man, KEIGHLEY, is staring out the window. Ariadne is sitting beside him.
We’re honoring wolf manoth by taking
out as many of them as we can.
Ari comes out of a room and looks down the hall. We see a woman backlit by the windows, her shoulders hunched and her hair hanging down in her eyes. Ari tenses as the woman notices her. Ari ducks back into the room she’s just exited and slams the door just as the woman slams into it from the other side.
ON-SCREEN: “AND THEY’VE BROUGHT A SECRET WEAPON”
EXT. NIGHT. A PARK.
A half-naked man bares his teeth as if in mid-transformation. Ari tries to placate him, but the man leaps at her. Ari is forced to deflect the man’s attack and pins him to the ground.
They’ve been dosing us through food, drinks…
When one of us inhales or ingests it, we go feral.
Then the hunters swoop in to save the day by taking us out.
They are serial killers who must put on a good
face for society while plotting their next murder in secret.
Ari’s girlfriend and partner DALE FRYE sits in the front seat as Ari finishes transforming into the wolf in the back. Dale reaches back to open the door and Ari jumps out onto the street.
Give ‘em hell, puppy!
INT. A LIVING ROOM.
A woman brings up a gun to aim it, but Ariadne slams into her just as she pulls the trigger.
EXT. A DARK STREET.
Dale is checking her phone as she walks. A group of men appear from the shadows to surround her.
Going to granny’s? Gonna take her a basket of goodies?
ON-SCREEN: “TRYING TO STOP THE WAR COULD COST HER EVERYTHING.”
EXT. AN INTERSECTION IN SEATTLE.
A van is sideswiped by a truck. Quick shots of people dressed all in black shooting guns, wolves leaping into action, a bloody wolf being pulled to safety.
You’re trying to save everyone,
and when you fail, you will have saved no one.
INT. BEDROOM. NIGHT
The bedroom is decorated for a teenage girl. Dale sits on the edge of the bed and puts a shirt to her face to smell it.
INT. BEDROOM. MORNING
In a different bedroom, Dale puts on Ari’s collar and tenderly kisses her.
EXT. STREET. NIGHT
Dale crouches and pulls a wolf’s bloody body out of danger as someone shoots at her.
EXT. PARKING LOT.
Dale pulls a discombobulated Ari out of the way seconds before a truck speeds over the spot where she was lying.
Dale is driving with Ari beside her, and Ari’s mother in the backseat. Dale cuts the car hard to the left and the passengers are thrown up against the side of the car as Dale crashes through the security fence of a construction site.
ON-SCREEN: “WOLF VERSUS HUNTER”
INT. LIVING ROOM.
A woman with bloody hands rises, leaving a body on the floor.
ON-SCREEN: “WITH HUMANS CAUGHT IN THE MIDDLE”
Dale looks shocked, with a smear of blood on her cheek
ON-SCREEN: “A LIFE AND DEATH BATTLE IS ABOUT TO BEGIN”
FADE IN ON:
Profile of Dale’s face as she lies on her back, breathing heavily, eyes wide with fright as a snarling wolf leans down and bares its teeth. The wolf growls.
